A finished commercial sign may carry one company’s name, but many successful projects depend on a larger team working behind the scenes. During nearly 20 years in business, SignWorks has developed relationships with wholesale sign suppliers, specialty fabricators, material distributors, and professional installers that help us complete projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.

These resources become especially valuable when an assignment includes multiple buildings, specialized fabrication, unusual materials, or a large fleet of vehicles.

Companies including Art SignWorks, Gemini, and Grimco, along with our experienced 3M Certified vehicle wrap installers, expand the range of sign solutions SignWorks can provide.

Art SignWorks Helps Bring Our HDU Sign Designs to Life

High-density urethane, commonly called HDU, is an excellent material for carved and dimensional signs. Unlike natural wood, HDU does not rot, absorb moisture, or attract insects.

SignWorks has worked with Art SignWorks as a wholesale fabrication resource for custom HDU projects. We develop the project specifications and artwork, while their specialized manufacturing capabilities allow our designs to be transformed into finished dimensional sign components.

Examples include:

Town of Moraga HDU Signs

SignWorks has supplied several custom HDU signs for the Town of Moraga since 2018. These projects required a traditional carved appearance suitable for municipal settings.

The relationship has continued as additional signage needs have developed, demonstrating how a dependable wholesale resource can support repeat public-sector work.

Stonebrook Post Acute — Concord

For Stonebrook Post Acute in Concord, SignWorks needed a new carved HDU panel designed to fit an existing post-and-panel sign structure.

The project became more complicated after deterioration was discovered in the existing wooden posts. Once the property replaced the damaged supports, SignWorks returned to complete the project.

HDU was particularly well suited to this application because it provided the carved appearance the client wanted without the decay concerns associated with natural wood.

Gemini Supports Dimensional Letter and Logo Projects

SignWorks also has a long-standing wholesale relationship with Gemini, a major manufacturer of dimensional letters, logos, plaques, and architectural sign products.

Gemini can manufacture components to the specifications supplied by SignWorks using materials and construction methods suited to the individual project.

Our work with Gemini has included products such as:

  • Cast and fabricated metal letters
  • Acrylic dimensional lettering
  • Custom logos
  • Flat-cut metal components
  • Formed dimensional letters
  • Architectural plaques
  • Illuminated sign components

One example is the DL Wholesale building sign in Tracy, installed approximately 60 feet above ground. The project combined a half-inch ACM logo with half-inch dimensional letters and required careful coordination through the City of Tracy review process.

SignWorks has also used dimensional lettering and logo products for projects involving Prevost in Hayward, JCC in Palo Alto, and commercial properties managed by Cushman & Wakefield.

By combining wholesale manufacturing with SignWorks’ project management, clients gain access to specialized fabrication without having to coordinate with multiple suppliers themselves.

3M Certified Installers Support Vehicle Wrap Projects

Vehicle graphics present a different challenge. Large wraps require skilled installers who understand how automotive films behave around doors, curves, seams, rivets, handles, and other vehicle features.

SignWorks has worked for many years with experienced 3M Certified wrap installers to complete full wraps, partial wraps, fleet lettering, and commercial vehicle graphics.

That relationship has supported projects ranging from individual service vehicles to large fleets.

One of our largest assignments involved approximately 50 Restoration Hardware trucks. Maintaining a uniform appearance across that many vehicles required consistent graphics and experienced installation.

Other SignWorks vehicle projects have included:

  • Hayward Unified School District fleet vehicles
  • Mr. Integrity Movers box truck
  • Commercial Door & Frame vehicles
  • Marelich Mechanical
  • A-One Construction
  • Pacific Data Electric
  • Three large trucks corrected for a national wrap company

For a business operating multiple vehicles, consistency matters. A truck in Oakland should present the same company identity as another vehicle working elsewhere in the Bay Area.

Grimco Supplies Materials for Projects Large and Small

Another important SignWorks resource is Grimco, a major wholesale distributor serving the sign industry.

Large commercial sign projects can require substantial quantities of aluminum, sign substrates, vinyl films, banner materials, hardware, and other products. Working with established distributors helps SignWorks source materials for both everyday orders and unusually large assignments.

Grimco has also supported SignWorks with time-sensitive projects. For Trader Joe’s, SignWorks once needed five Windmaster sign stands and printed inserts on a very short schedule. Supplier support helped us complete the order in approximately one week.

Our continuing Trader Joe’s work has included:

  • Parking and traffic-control signs
  • Banners and decals
  • Windmaster displays
  • Signicades
  • Hang tags
  • Garage clearance bars
  • Interior and exterior signs
  • Custom items not found in standard catalogs

These projects show why dependable supply channels matter when a client has stores in multiple locations and needs consistent products delivered on schedule.

Strong Vendor Relationships Expand SignWorks’ Capabilities

No single sign shop needs to manufacture every component under one roof to manage complex commercial signage successfully.

The key is knowing which resource is appropriate for each job and maintaining relationships with companies that can consistently meet project specifications.

SignWorks coordinates a network that includes:

  • Art SignWorks for specialized HDU fabrication
  • Gemini for dimensional letters, logos, plaques, and specialty sign components
  • 3M Certified installers for professional vehicle and fleet graphics
  • Grimco for sign materials, hardware, display products, and project supplies
  • Additional specialty vendors selected according to individual project requirements

A Larger Team Behind Every Sign

From a carved HDU municipal sign in Moraga to a 50-truck fleet graphics program, the scale and technical needs of SignWorks projects can vary considerably.

Our wholesale suppliers and installation partners give SignWorks access to specialized equipment, materials, manufacturing processes, and field expertise while allowing us to remain the central point of project coordination.

For Bay Area property managers, contractors, public agencies, retailers, and businesses, those long-term vendor relationships translate into a broader range of custom commercial sign solutions. SignWorks brings the pieces together, matching each project with the suppliers, fabricators, materials, and installation resources needed to turn approved artwork into a finished sign.
