SignWorks was thrilled to be selected to fabricate this stainless steel halo lit sign which is awaiting installation by a local contractor.  After approval proofs were approved it was time to order the stainless steel slab that would be used to produce the finished sign.  In addition to shop drawings we were tasked to supply the contractor with the lighting specifications as part of the approval process.

The project was especially challenging given that reliable water jet operators are very hard find, especially with todays skilled labor shortages.  It took picking up the 7 ft. wide stainless steel piece from 3 separate places before landing a skilled operator to route the cut outs.  Next in line was mounting the raised stainless steel letters of the sign to the pre-routed backer which required the services of a welder. Once this step was complete we were tasked to string the LED bulbs to the rear of the sign. When lit, we know the results will be spectacular!

While we don’t have a fully illuminated picture to share of the actual sign, we are sharing a picture of a similarly illuminated channel letter sign as an example of what the halo lighting effect will look like.

As a sign fabricator we are aware that there are choices when it comes to the type of illumination for any given sign including front lit, reverse lit and both front and back lit.  Each type of lighting will produce different lighting effects.  A reverse channel letter will mean the space “behind” the letter is lit making the letter appear to glow, instead of light shining through the letter itself.

Generally speaking illuminated signs are used on a variety of buildings, at shopping centers, by retail and grocery outlets and by banks, churches and colleges/schools.  They create a professional looking sign that is versatile and will stand out, especially at night.  That being said, it is very important to maintain your illuminated signs and letters in a good working state.  Avoid burnt out letters or the awkward spelling errors created by poor sign maintenance because this sends the wrong message to potential customers.
