SignWorks uses Art Sign Works, Inc. as a wholesaler when providing sand blasted signs to our clients.  The options for these signs include cedar, redwood and HDU (High Density Urethane) which is the most popular given the extended wear characteristics.  HDU is impervious to rot, bird droppings, etc., so clients wanting to create signage with a rustic look and feel or for park like settings will often elect for this type of signage.  In fact, the Town of Moraga replaced one of their worn wood signs with an HDU sandblasted version earlier this year.  Typically they are mounted between treated wood posts and anchored in cement, but they can be blade mounted in applications such as restaurants and storefronts, like the blade sign pictured.

These carved and engraved signs can also be metal coated for a plaque like appearance for government and commercial clients. Sand blasted signs work well in both interior and exterior locations and last from 10 to 30 years when properly maintained.  A standard two year warranty completes the offering and production time, after approval of the art proof, is 4-5 weeks.

Sandblasted-Sign-CAThese types of signs are an excellent choice for the outdoors, especially in rustic settings such as parks and recreational areas.  In fact, we fabricated a post and panel sign that sits on a grassy area at Oakland’s Lake Merritt (Pittman Green).  We have also produced a variety of sand blasted street name signs for a local mobile Home Park and a larger post and panel mounted sandblasted sign for a local church. Another client opted to do their own hand painting of the sand blasted sign they ordered for a construction site project.
