SignWorks is thrilled to be working with the Gap, Inc. on a building renovation project in Pleasanton.  Recently, we performed the site survey to confirm where the Evacuation Maps were being placed and the location of things like the stairwells, elevators, pull stations and the like.  As it turns out we located additional places where, for fire safety and compliance reasons, more Evacuation Maps would be required.  This brings the total to eleven maps for the area that is being renovated.  Not to mention the additional signage that includes dimensional lettering, stairwell signs, ADA tenant signs and vinyl graphics needed before the client occupies the building.

We can’t understate the importance of the site survey process!  It allows for dialogue between the client and our designers to insure that we are correctly interpreting what is going to be produced.  It’s also important to meet key members of the client’s team so that if access to the building is needed we know who to connect with since this may not be the same person.  Some aspects of the project require us to produce things in house while others will require us to work with our trusted wholesale partners, like Gemini, who will produce the ½” flat cut aluminum lettering for the company name that’s attaching to the building.  We use Gemini for all of our dimensional letter projects due to the high quality production standards and the life time warranty their products carry.

Gap owners Doris and Don Fisher opened their first Gap store in 1969 with the simple idea of making it easier to find a pair of jeans and, a commitment to doing more.  The company is now a global fashion business with brands such as Gap, banana republic, Old Navy, Athleta and Intermix.  There are more than 3,300 company operated stores and 400 franchise stores in 90 countries.  And, the e-commerce sites are giving the company even more exposure.
