We do our fair share of signage work for local government agencies and the City of Palo Alto represents one of the most recent ones. Several months ago the City had decided to spruce up the appearance of several exterior building signs and approached us about fabricating the signs. We assisted in the selection of materials and recommended aluminum since the signs were being used outdoors. These signs are typically done with radius corners to avoid sharp exposed edges. We also steered them away from the neon like green they had selected. It did not make for a good enough contrast given the white background of the sign. Contrast is a very important aspect when it comes to sign making. See the color chart below for some guidance regarding contrast.
