We recently completed a vehicle wrap where the client wanted the roof wrapped as well. In many cases, especially if the roof is channeled and not flat, the use of relief cuts would expedite such a project. Relief cuts, especially on a roof where dirt and grime accumulate can, however, be problematic. These small cuts, if improperly sealed can cause the vinyl to lift, especially where water and dirt is allowed to accumulate.
Our client had had a bad experience with some of their previously wrapped vehicle roofs from another company because of the vinyl lifting. Consequently, we were asked not to use relief cuts in any of the channels where water and dirt would tend to sit. Our skilled installer opted to work wonders and, using a solid piece of vinyl, was able to work the vinyl in such a way that eliminated the need for relief cuts. This obviously added time and effort, so there are definite tradeoffs when it comes to this approach. Plus, it takes an extremely skilled installer to do it.
If you are planning to do a vehicle wrap in the near future and need a skilled and certified installer we hope you will give SignWorks a call at (510) 357-2000. We do excellent and skillful work!
