When it comes to laminating your prints, or for that matter using laminates to create a metal look on plastic dimensional letters, there are several reasons to laminate. For example:

• To protect digital graphics on a vehicle wrap from scratching and fading, and to extend the life of the graphics

• To protect digital banners, building signs and window graphics from graffiti damage when placed at easily reachable heights or used in highly trafficked urban areas

• To create the appearance of cast metal letters and backer plates when the client’s budget does not afford the use of high cost cast metals and/or sheeting materials.

Obviously brushed aluminum sheeting material is far more expensive than a metal laminate applied to acrylic or PVC sheeting to create the same effect.

And, the basic lamination material choices include a variety of finishes including gloss, luster or matte, as well as specialty finishes such as dry-erase, anti-graffiti and anti-slip products for floor applications. In addition to sheet lamination products sold by the roll, there are spray-on and brush/roll-on versions sold by the gallon.

At SignWorks we consult with our clients to understand how and where the signs will be used and advice on the choices and applicability of lamination. Call us today at (510) 357-2000!
