SignWorks has been collaborating with this client for a few years now, so when the tenant information changes property management staff contacts us for new engraved directory slats for their 1st floor building directory. Our first project with the property managers involved rescaling the directory slats so that they were more readable and provided less negative space given that there were fewer tenants. We also helped the client decide if a digital display was an option, given their decision to keep the elegant brass surround that gave the building a more classic and historic character.
The project involved four new 6.75” wide by 1.875” tall black/clear engraving slats and 10 new non engraved blanks to be used as directory slat fillers. The previous change in slat height allowed the backlit directory to look fuller and eliminated some dead space, while preserving the timeless character of the brass frame in the polished stone entry lobby.
Located property in the heart of San Francisco’s financial district, the 22 Battery Street building is and eleven story commercial building. It has more than 66K square feet of usable space and houses a variety of commercial tenants.
Today’s static building and lobby directories tend to be more modern, often featuring metallic slats or accents. Exactly like another of our commercial real estate property management clients who has us re-apply vinyl lettering when there are changes at the Vale Road (San Pablo) property that they manage. Often, engraved slats are replaced with cut vinyl ones so that as tenants change, the vinyl slat lettering is easily peeled and replaced with the new tenant information. Usually, once the overall size of the directory space has been decided, the number of tenants will determine the size of the slats and the corresponding letter height.
