SignWorks is proud of our continued relationship with Trader Joe’s and we continue to produce a variety of signs, decals and banners for them nationally, as well as custom parking signs like the one pictured. Some of the stores like a more creative and brand conscious approach to traditional outdoor parking restriction signs. We made eight 12” by 18” using .080 aluminum blanks know that they will last a very long time and that they would not bend or dent easily.
Trader Joe’s brand identity developed over several years is well-established. The stores are very popular in California and I like many of you shop there all the time. I love the brand! I find their products well priced and I’m always impressed by the large selection of fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, wines and so much more.
Joe Coulombe founded Trader Joe’s in 1958 after acquiring a small chain of convenience stores around the LA area. He initially called them Pronto Markets. After ten years it was obvious to Joe that the convenience store formula needed to be refined so he decided to open his first Trader Joe’s store in Pasadena, CA in 1967. He became aware of the changing demographics so he decided to use his G. I. Bill benefits to get himself a better education which he then used to deliver something different. The nautical theme he decided on has paid off in a big way and it is used to this very day! Team members still consider themselves “traders on the culinary seas” and refer to themselves as Mates. Store employees are known for being nice, well informed and extremely helpful. And, the bright, tropical-patterned shirts are a very nice touch!
