SignWorks is pleased to report the completion of the second of three precision tooled brass plaques for the College of Marin. This one shipped months ago and we wanted to share some information about the project. Working with Gilbane Construction who ordered the first plaque, we were pleased that they sought us out again!
With this particular plaque the end client, College of Marin, wanted to review some options that included tree elements. As such we worked with our long time wholesaler, Gemini, to provide two options for the 16 ½” by 8 ¼” plaque featuring raised copy, a sand background and a beveled edge. Ultimately, the client selected the first option. When it comes to plaques and dimensional letters, the lifetime pass through warranty feature, is a hard one to pass by and is a major factor when deciding who to work with on these types of projects. And, with smaller projects like this one it is easy to ship the finished product directly to the client.
The College of Marin has been in operation for almost 100 years. It is a public community college with campuses in Kentfield and Novato. It is especially well known for its theatre department which has the highest transfer acceptance to Juilliard of any two-year college in the nation.
Gemini offers plaques in a variety of styles including raised lettering with recessed background, laser etched, and precision tooled, like the current project. And, when the plaques have lots of graphic detail, a Giclee print can be used and mounted onto the plaque, which allows for the inclusion of art elements and shading not allowed with more traditional plaques. These art elements when added are sealed with a clear coat.
