Although the project took longer than it should, when Liberty Mutual contacted us it was as a result of a traffic accident in the unincorporated area of Hayward. The issue became one of pedestrian safety given that the City of Hayward would not be responsible for replacing the damaged signs.  Their client would need to take on the responsibility for replacing the signs via an insurance claim.  As you can see from the before picture both street signs, the stop sign and the post were damaged beyond repair.

We got to work on proofs right away and ordered the 24” Stop sign from one of our local suppliers, in this case Grimco.  Once the client approved the street sign proofs we again ordered the street signs pictured from Grimco to exactly match the ones that were destroyed.  We also made sure they complied with the local ordinances as far as color, size, font, etc.  In fact, when it comes to standardized traffic and roadway signs, including those that comply with Federal Highway or California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD) guidelines, we don’t hesitate in reaching out to Grimco.  They carry many of the CA MUTCD mandated signs which means we don’t have to create them.  Useful information about standardized CA MUTCD can be found here: https://dot.ca.gov/-/media/dot-media/programs/safety-programs/documents/signs/f0018747-ca-signchart-2014rev2-tabloid.pdf

If you are ever in need of roadway, street signs or property restriction signs, whether standardized or custom, SignWorks is a great source for you!  A few years back we created a City of Oakland aluminum sign with the population circa 1970 for a client who moved to Oakland in the 1970’s and wanted a smaller replica of the sign as it would have appeared then.  She displayed it on her front porch.  Just give SignWorks a call at (510) 357-2000 or peruse our website to look at project photos and learn more about us and our team.
