This was a busy week with more work for Trader Joe’s.  Our most recent order had SignWorks cranking out 24” X 36” PVC parking signs, four in all, with a variety of text as pictured for the Manhattan Beach and Los Angeles stores, along with aluminum caution and one way signs.  We also, shipped a slew of PVC and aluminum parking signs to our client’s Rochester Hills, MI and Jacksonville, FL stores.

In general, parking restriction signs are used to enforce certain behavior and control traffic in parking lots.  They are very much a part of modern day life!  When used outdoors these signs are typically made of durable, heavy-gauge (.080) metal that will guarantee a long life outdoors. They are made to stand up to the outdoor elements and are not as easily bent as the lesser grade .040 that is used indoor.  The PVC signs shown on the right will not last quite as long.

Painted aluminum sign blanks come in a variety of standard sizes and finishes. In fact, there are several .080 metal signs with prismatic materials for high impact or nighttime visibility that meet or exceed all State DOT and Federal MUTCD standards.  Oftentimes they are skinned with a variety of high intensity films.

All of the Trader Joe’s art files are loaded onto our system for these and other signs, including the cut vinyl decals used frequently at their retail stores. The art files include their banners, parking signs, posts, signicades, delineators, and the like.  And, we have just finished adding a new interior 12” X 5” DO NOT BLOCK sign made from PVC.  Trader Joe’s orders are processed very quickly and we ship them in a matter of days.  Like many retailers, this client uses a variety of cut vinyl decals including red address lettering for store windows, as well as for the store name and operating hours. By pre-masking all of their decals it makes them easier to install.

The company has a well-established brand identity that has been developed over several years and the stores are extremely popular where I live.  I love the brand and shop there frequently because their products are well priced and because of their large selection of fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, wines and so much more.

Founded in 1958 by Joe Coulombe, Trader Joe’s began when Joe took over a small chain of convenience stores around the LA area and called them Pronto Markets.  Ten years later it was obvious that the convenience store formula needed tweaking so Joe then opened his first Trader Joe’s store in 1967 in Pasadena, CA.  Once he became aware of the changing demographics he decided to leverage his G. I. Bill benefits to garner a better education.  It was at that point that he decided to deliver something different and the nautical theme he decided on has certainly paid off!  To this day team members still consider themselves “traders on the culinary seas” and are known for being nice, helpful, and well informed as well as for their bright, tropical-patterned shirts.

SignWorks considers itself a go to source for many types of signs and graphics, and we’ve been supplying Bay Area businesses with signs and graphics for almost thirteen years.  If you need parking restriction signs and/or expertise on an upcoming sign project, just give us a call at (510) 357-2000.  We can design, fabricate and install everything from small decals to large building banners and many things in between.   For more information about us or our product offering, just visit our website to view our project photos and blog posts.
