SignWorks is pleased with its many partnerships and talented fabricators. We are posting an example of the fabulous work of one of favorites. The project entailed making a set of halo lit 3 feet tall channel letters that spanned 14 feet as well as designing and fabricating a 15 ft. by 7 ft. wall wrap to brand the retailer location at the Sun Valley Mall in Concord, CA. The Corner, a men’s urban apparel retailer, now has a branded and welcoming space at the mall complete with top-notch electrical sign installation.
After the initial site visit, the client approval of the art proofs, and the permit process required for electrical signs, the work of creating the channel letters began. They were made using a CNC router to cut the aluminum spelling out the letters in the clients’ name. Strips of aluminum were cut and bent to form the sides of the letters, called returns. Once welded together, and painted black, the LED bulbs were placed inside the individual letters. Once in place and lit, the effect will be a halo as the white light will shine onto the wall behind the black letters making for an eye catching and stark contrast.
Similarly, after developing the color palette for the wall graphics and working with the client on the art renderings the vinyl graphics were digitally printed. He was careful to in mind whether the surface was heavily textured on not, and to select the appropriate cast vinyl material. Like wall paper the graphics were applied in tiled sections to the 15 ft. wide wall.
The end client, The Corner, at the Sun Valley Mall in Concord sells men’s urban apparel. Catering to young men, they offer a full array of men’s clothing for the fashion conscious male, from shoes to hats and, all that’s in between!
