Last week SignWorks was approached by a local retailer in desperate need for a new signicade. At first he wasn’t even sure of exactly what the signs were called, but he knew the current pandemic called for him to ensure the safety of himself, his staff and his customers. His store had been deemed essential, but many patrons were entering without masks or face coverings, which put him and other customers at risk. He wondered if we could help and needed a recommendation regarding portable signage that could be placed at the entrance of his store.
Our initial response was to send him a picture of signicade so he would have a visual frame of reference. He was already very clear on the wording which he wanted to be in both English and Spanish, given the clientele that frequented his neighborhood retail store. He was more interested in clear messaging “in black and white” than on design aesthetics. Our staff designer added a mask to enhance the visual appeal and message. The 2 ft. x 3 ft. sign was approved and fabricated within days using PVC inserts mounted to the face (both sides) of the signicade/A-Frame.
