Last week we were approached by The CORE Group, a building contractor in Santa Clara on some additional renovations to the 4th Floor of the 75 Hawthorne building in San Francisco. We were the original sign vendor when Turner Construction renovated the building in 2017 and we were asked to replicate the evacuation maps we had done recently for the 20th Floor. They sent us the revised 4th Floor core drawings and ordered three revised evacuation maps one sized at 19” by 39” and the other two sized at 15” by 33”. Within the week we were able to supply them with updated map copies to take to the San Francisco Fire Department for approval.
San Francisco Fire Department has very strict guidelines requiring us to adhere to the lettering, corridor and symbol sizing criteria, which ultimately dictates the minimum size of the two smaller stair maps. We sent our client full sized and scaled art to make the paper copies (two sets of 11” by 17” scaled) needed by the Fire Department for review and approval.
We are again working with our wholesaler, Identity Group, on their custom thermal molded ADA compliant (Americans with Disabilities) signs. Their custom ADA signs feature braille/tactile as an integral part of the actual sheeting material with custom tactile and braille. Because we are not installing the signs we’ll need to post the actual pictures after the project is complete and the client sends them to us. We’re including a sample of what these finished signs will look like.
The Core Group builders was founded in 2004 and has a solid reputation. They are the builder of choice for an array clients located throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Their projects include mission critical projects in high tech, healthcare, bio-pharma, corporate office complexes and education. They make the process fun while delivering masterful work.
SignWorks has been working with Bay Area builders, contractors and building owners since 2008, many of whom are repeat clients. As a company we work with a variety for wholesalers and ADA fabricators to supply a variety of ADA and evacuation map signs. In fact, many of the evacuation maps and fire safety signs we produce (without braille) are fabricated in house.
