SignWorks, Inc and Silman Construction have been working together for almost ten years, especially on vehicle branding and lettering. Recently we were asked to produce three sets of door decals with the CA Department of transportation numbers as shown in the picture. We are not sure if our client needs them for vehicles they are adding to the fleet or if the lettering needs to be replaced on some existing vehicles. Needless to say, we were happy to fulfill the request for the three sets of 23.25” by 2.25” tall lettering as shown.
Silman maintains a fleet of all black vehicles which seems to be continually expending. Their logo decal is a 28” by 7” tall consisting of red and white cut vinyl layered to create the visual you see based on the black background of the truck. It makes for a very stark contrast and eye-catching design! Keeping their fleet branded has been a smart yet economical approach for the company, and their belief in mobile marketing and attention to brand management is quite obvious. Vehicle and fleet graphics outperform traditional media based advertising and has a higher rate of return.
3M conducted a research project in 2008 that demonstrated how a single intra-city truck with graphics can generate up to 16 million visual impressions in a year. The study was done in the San Francisco area over a three-month study period. It showed that by investing just pennies on the dollar per one thousand impressions, that a company like Silman can get a real bargain when compared to radio, television or newspaper ads that cost between $4 and $24 for similar levels of exposure.
In addition to their logo branded vehicle graphics SignWorks has also made safety-related decals, job site signage, banners and a host of other sign types. The company installs their own vehicle graphics which minimizes the amount of time their vehicles are off the road and not “working!”
