SignWorks has been working with the property management staff over at the Majestic Apartments for the last few months. The design aspects took a while to solidify. In this instance there was no map of the property so our designer had to use Google Maps and make an aerial view of the property using the satellite image. Not an easy task! Add to this several other iterations where the client continued to revise the amount of detail they wanted to see on the map and legend, e.g. building number detail, parking stalls, compass detail, etc. The final approval of the art occurred just weeks ago.
We used MDO (a wood like panel) that was primed on both sides and applied a laminated vinyl print to it before sealing the edges and rear of the panel with white paint. The 5 ft. wide and 3 ft. tall sign panel was then transported to the job site in Hayward where it was mounted between two treated posts (4” by 4”) that were covered with white decorative post sleeves and caps to give a more professional and finished look. We made sure the client connected with PG&E and had the locations of the underground utilities marked before digging and setting the posts in cement. As you can see from the picture the result was a professional looking directory sign that will last for years to come and help visitors to navigate the property and find their way. We were pleased with the end result and happy to have made an effective wayfinding sign.
