Our local non-profit client called From the Garden to the Table (FGTT) or G2T contacted us to produce four more etched stainless steel plaques for a local Veterans Home. Just as before the plaques will be placed in a kitchen environment where veterans are being taught to cook and eat healthy meals. We selected stainless steel because the material must to be able to withstand cleaning, and this was thought to be the best option since the material can be cleaned with mild soapy water. These plaques were all sized at 7” wide and 3.43” tall.
SignWorks, has works closely with Gemini, our preferred plaque wholesaler, to design these plaques. Because of the intricacies and shading in the art file we decided against an etched (paint fill) process which would make for a very bland looking plaque. We instead suggested that the client consider the Giclee process where the art is printed directly to the plaque without etching or engraving. The process allows us to preserve the color, detail, shading and gradients that are already in the art file. The Giclee process allows printing onto the steel plates as opposed to having copy and shapes that are either recessed or paint filled.
We have yet to receive pictures from the client but when we do we’ll post them so you can evaluate the finished effect!
