SignWorks is pleased to have completed a new logo lobby sign for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). We had initially began working with the agency on some parking restriction signs that are near completion we were asked to quote a dimensional logo lobby sign for the reception area wall. The lobby sign, produced in the agency’s colors, was made of ¼” thick acrylic. The logo shape was 18.13” tall and 40.7” wide with a series of text elements at 3.58” spelling out the agency’s name and tag line.
Initially, our client considered two options. We explored mounting the dimensional logo and text onto a clear acrylic backer which would have then been mounted to the wall using brushed aluminum stand offs. It would have made maintenance of the interior wall easier, especially when the wall needs repainting, but would have been more costly. After weighing both options the agency decided (during the design review phase) that mounting the dimensional letter lobby sign directly to the wall best met their needs.
Established in 1972, Santa Clara VTA provides sustainable community focused transportation options, including bus, light rail and paratransit services, to its ridership. The approach is both innovative and environmentally friendly. They are responsible for countywide transportation and congestion management and are charged with the design and construction of highway, pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects. They work in conjunction with Caltrain, Capital Corridor and Altamont Corridor Express.
