When commercial property management company, Vestar, first contacted us they wanted us to stabilize several pole signs and a monument sign that were leaning noticeably. We sent one of our knowledgeable technician’s to perform a site survey and propose solutions to the problem.  We were able, during a subsequent visit, to stabilize and level the Chase Bank monument sign and a few of the pole signs but then the winter rains began and completing the project was postponed. Since one of the signs was encased in a concrete footing it would need to be dug out and re-cemented, which meant we needed a few consecutive dry days.

Fast forward a few months and the signs that had been stabilized were once again leaning!  Upon further investigation we found that several of these pole signs were buried in dirt and near an active sprinkler system.  This meant that without cementing them in place they would continue to be unstable and lean when the dirt footings became wet and saturated.  The SignWorks technician proposed installing tubular metal sleeves (cemented in place) and setting the poles into them as a solution to the constantly eroding soil.  Problem solved!  We also rented a core drilling tool for breaking up the sidewalk cement as needed to straighten the leaning stop sign.

Vestar was founded in 1989 and is a privately held real estate company.  They acquire, develop and manage properties of various sizes that serve as community hubs or focal points.  Their properties include retail and entertainment destinations throughout the Pacific Northwest. The company has created many of the largest successful open air retail spaces and is noted for engaging communities and municipalities during the development process.

SignWorks has established itself with several commercial real estate and property management concerns and is noted for working well with real estate companies regardless of their size.  We have a keen eye when it comes to updating signs and keeping commercial properties looking their best.  Signs play a vital part in making sure a space is welcoming and they need to be well maintained.  Things like swapping out directories and correcting wayfinding signs when there are new tenants or when old ones leave, is essential.
