Silman Construction has been a SignWorks customer for a very long time. They came to us complaining that they had gotten some stickers, thankfully not from us. Their decals/stickers were continuing to peel up from the equipment they had been stuck to after only a few weeks. They asked if we could find them a product that had better adhesion characteristics and carried a longer wear warranty. They mentioned paying a premium for the right material vs. having to have the job redone several times. We immediately thought of a sister Sign Company in Southern California that specializes in decals for the motor cross and other sport biking events. Evidently the polycarbonates that these bikes are made of are oil based so it makes it imperative that low energy vinyl, a specialty product, is used or adhesion becomes virtually impossible.
Our client was under a tight deadline and almost completely out of the tank, safety and other equipment decals they needed. As a first step we contacted our supplier and obtained the data sheet and specifications for the material. We wanted to be sure there would be no misunderstanding regarding the material characteristics and wanted our client to understand the pass through warranty and wear characteristics of the vinyl we would be using.
Per the attached approval sheet the order consisted of two large 35” X 9” tank decals, two 18” safety posters and 30 smaller 8 ½” X 1 ¼” decals using stark red and white lettering to maximize visibility.
The company is headquartered in San Leandro, California but also has operations in Tupelo, Mississippi and Decatur, Alabama. They provide engineering, construction and industrial equipment systems that integrate various processes to the manufacturing and distribution sectors. Their 100 person team is equipped with an extensive knowledge base as well as several years of experience in engineering, site services and construction. Originally, the company specialized in equipment installations but they have since extended their services to include system design and integration. The result has been better control of schedules and budgets.
