The BART Oakland Connector project was completed last November by Turner Construction, and Flatiron Construction. This project supplied travelers with above ground services from BART to Oakland International Airport using recently provided shuttle trains. Signworks, Inc. was approached by Turner Construction to supply custom signage, and we were excited to meet the challenge!
Signworks, Inc. was asked to supply tailor made ADA signs, as well as evacuation maps for the stations. What began as a $38K job, rapidly transformed into a more than $70K signage project. There was an extended survey procedure, where the content of signs were listed. Plans were drawn up for the products needed for the three stations (Coliseum, Airport and the Doolittle Maintenance facility in San Leandro). After the planning phase was completed, there was an in-depth fabrication done for the additional signs that were either missed, or added onto the original project. Signworks, Inc. paired with FOCON to supply union installation services. We were pleased with results of this project, as was the client. Signworks, Inc. was already brought in to do an even larger project with Turner Construction now!
