We have worked with PDE a few times before on the design and layout of their fleet graphics.  Most recently, the company underwent a re-branding process which required a redesign of their exterior door logo and the installation of door decals on several of their vehicles.  We’re mid way through the project which consists of re-lettering the exterior door and the replacement of the logo graphics on the doors of their existing local fleet of six vehicles.

Much of the difficultly associated with the removal of vinyl decals is associated with how long the vehicles (and decals) have been exposed to the sun, as well as the type of vinyl that was used.  Often, with older vehicles that have been in service for awhile, this means the vinyl has become dry and brittle.  The result is that the vinyl will release in very small pieces, sometimes a small as a snowflake making it hard to estimate the amount of time that has to be allotted to the task.  A heat gun and a special drill tool designed for vinyl removal help immensely but it can still be an arduous and time consuming task.  The area then has to be cleaned and degreased to ensure that the vehicle surface is free of any adhesive residue or the new vinyl decal will not adhere properly.  Please contact us if you are contemplating a fleet graphics project by calling 510-357-2000 or sending an email to info@signworks.us.com.  We have the tools and the patience for the task at hand!
