We are able to supply high quality awnings in a wide variety of sizes and styles due to our partnership with exemplary wholesalers and suppliers.  The more popular styles are illustrated; however, it is also possible to create custom designs to meet unique site parameters and architectural styles.  Awning graphics and the methods for creating them include the following:

  • Heat Transfer
Using this method the computer-cut vinyl material is bonded to the substrate fabric using heat. This method is used on woven acrylic fabrics like Sunbrella for Awnings and Canopies that will not be back-lit.
  • Adhesive Vinyl
This approach uses computer-cut translucent vinyl which is then applied to a translucent vinyl fabric.  It’s great for Awnings and Canopies that will be backlit.
  • Eradicated
This method uses a computer-cut stencil mask which is applied to translucent eradicable vinyl fabrics — the color surface is chemically eradicated to reveal the white substrate.   Again, this is great for backlit Awnings, Canopies and Flex-Faces.
  • Vinyl Overlay
Similar to the eradicated process above, the computer-cut stencil mask is applied to translucent eradicable vinyl fabrics — created by chemically eradicating the color surface so the white substrate is revealed, then a translucent vinyl film is applied into the eradicated area to display the specified color.  Again, this is great for backlit Awnings, Canopies and Flex-Faces.
  • Digital Print Inset
The final method involves a computer-cut stencil mask applied to translucent eradicable vinyl fabrics — created by chemically eradicating the color surface and thereby revealing the white substrate.   The digitally printed translucent vinyl film is then inset into the eradicated area to display the specified color. Again, this is great for backlit Awnings, Canopies and Flex-Faces.

A more classic approach involves using Opaque fabric that remains unlit or is lit by gooseneck lighting and there are several fabric choices.  If you are currently investigating an awning project, whether back-lit or not, give SignWorks a call at (510) 357-2000 or email us at info@signworks.us.com for more information!
