The diagrams and rendering above reflect the custom aluminum replacement monument sign that SignWorks fabricated for the facilities staff at Cal State University East Bay in Hayward this past July.

When we were approached by the facilities staff to reconstruct a custom fabricated metal monument sign, we were a little curious about what had happened to the original one.  It seems that a driver had missed a crucial turn and instead crashed into the existing sign.  Since the sign had been a custom fabrication job, using heavy gauge aluminum and custom paint, the challenge was going to be a massive coordination effort.  This involved sourcing the oversized aluminum panels, having the metal rectangular box fabricated and painted in the custom color identified in the specifications, then lettering the sign to reflect the text messaging that had been selected.  We were thrilled when all the pieces of the puzzle came together and we were told we had been selected for the work.

That was back in July and we decided to wait until the maintenance staff had erected the sign in place to share news of the project with our clients and prospects.   In fact, once the sign was complete it took three men to lift it onto the box truck that was used to transport the structure to Hayward.  We wanted to write about the project before now, but erecting the sign in place was delayed to August/September. Finally, after being told the sign was in place, we were ready to drive out to the campus or have staff send us a picture to include in our Blog.  Guess what?  The replacement sign has been “hit” yet again!  So it looks like a live picture will not be possible until a future date when the sign is replaced for a second time.
