British Columbia Ferries has been wrapping their maritime fleet for a long time and is probably considered as the largest-ever printed marine graphic application.  As part of the promotions of the Canadian Olympic Winter games giant decals were developed to showcase the natural beauty of the area as well as the artistry of Olympic performance.  Visitors to the area were treated to a visual of four different photographs of extremely high resolution that were enlarged and recreated as huge decals that were applied to the side of the ferry fleet.  The design had to be approved by the province and the Olympic organizing committee who embraced the project as a strategic promotional opportunity.

The fleet operator worked with a design company in Vancouver to develop the graphics which were then applied at the shipyard in Germany.  3M vinyl film was used for the project which involved printing the selected four images, representing 7,000 square meters of graphics for the three vessels applied to both sides of each ship’s hull.
