When you are mounting a photorealistic image to your exterior window or storefront, especially in urban areas, lamination or a graffiti guard will act as a protector. It is safe to say that budding graffiti artists like to make their mark on retail store fronts and windows, making the use of a laminate well worthwhile. Cut vinyl can be cleaned with products such as âGoof Off,â but for images produced with solvent inks this would not be a solution as the chemical will also react against the ink. Likewise, vehicle graphics that are digitally produced should be protected with a laminate because it helps to shield the image from graffiti, some cleaning solutions, and the damaging effects of weather, sunlight, and the like.
In general, digitally produced signs that are placed at eye level or are easily reached without the use of a ladder, should be afforded the benefit of lamination. Why pay for the sign twice when for a nominal amount you can protect it and possibly even extend the useful life of the sign.
